We are hiring an experienced Data Center Telecom Superintendent for a major mission-critical construction project in the Spartanburg, South Carolina area.
This position is responsible for leading the daily field installation of fiber-optic, copper, and structured-cabling infrastructure in an active data-center construction environment.
We are looking for a hands-on field leader who can manage technicians, coordinate work with other trades, maintain the project schedule, and ensure that all cabling, terminations, testing, labeling, and documentation meet project requirements.
What You Will Do
- Lead the daily field operations for the telecom and structured-cabling scope.
- Supervise fiber technicians, copper technicians, installers, subcontractors, and field crews.
- Coordinate fiber splicing, terminations, testing, patching, labeling, and cable installation.
- Plan manpower, materials, work areas, and daily installation priorities.
- Develop short-term look-ahead schedules and track field progress.
- Review construction drawings, one-lines, rack elevations, cable schedules, patching schedules, and project specifications.
- Coordinate with project management, the general contractor, electrical contractors, MEP trades, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
- Identify and resolve field conflicts before they affect production or schedule.
- Confirm that installations meet ANSI/TIA, BICSI, client, and project-specific requirements.
- Enforce all company and site safety policies.
- Monitor workmanship and correct quality issues before inspection or turnover.
- Verify test results, labeling records, redline drawings, as-builts, and closeout documentation.
- Provide daily updates regarding completed work, manpower, material needs, schedule risks, and upcoming activities.
- Assist crews in the field when technical direction or hands-on support is needed.
Required Experience
- At least five years of telecom, structured-cabling, fiber, or low-voltage installation experience.
- At least two years of experience as a superintendent, general foreman, foreman, field supervisor, or lead technician.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of fiber and copper cabling systems.
- Experience with fiber splicing, terminating, testing, patching, labeling, and troubleshooting.
- Experience supervising technicians on data-center, mission-critical, industrial, or large commercial projects.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, rack elevations, cable schedules, and project specifications.
- Experience planning manpower, tracking production, and maintaining construction schedules.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with project managers, general contractors, owners, and other trades.
- Understanding of applicable structured-cabling standards and data-center installation requirements.
- Ability to work the project’s required schedule and overtime when needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous superintendent or general-foreman experience on hyperscale or colocation data-center projects.
- BICSI, FOA, manufacturer, or equivalent fiber and structured-cabling certifications.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience using Procore, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, Excel, or similar construction-management tools.
- Experience managing project closeout documentation, test reports, labeling records, and as-built drawings.
Compensation
- $50–$58 per hour, based on experience
