NETA Level III Lead Field Engineer / Senior Testing Tech

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced NETA Level III Lead Field Engineer / Senior Testing Tech to serve as the on-site lead for electrical acceptance testing and commissioning on large-scale, mission-critical data center projects.
This senior, hands-on role is critical to project execution, quality control, and client confidence. The successful candidate will lead field testing operations, coordinate personnel and daily activities, provide technical oversight, and ensure all work meets applicable NETA standards, project specifications, and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the on-site lead for electrical acceptance testing and commissioning activities.
- Lead and perform hands-on testing and commissioning of Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) and mission-critical power systems.
- Oversee and provide technical direction to NETA Level I and Level II technicians.
- Coordinate daily testing plans, work sequencing, manpower, and project priorities with construction and commissioning teams.
- Perform and oversee testing of medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems, including switchgear, switchboards, breakers, transformers, protective relays, and related equipment.
- Review, validate, and sign off on NETA acceptance test results and reports.
- Identify testing deficiencies, equipment issues, and abnormal results and coordinate appropriate corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable NETA standards, project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and site safety procedures.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, troubleshooting support, and field oversight.
- Serve as the primary on-site technical point of contact for testing-related issues.
- Communicate testing progress, technical findings, and potential schedule impacts to project stakeholders.
- Share or rotate lead responsibilities with another senior lead on long-duration or multi-shift projects.
Requirements
- Current NETA Level III certification required.
- Extensive hands-on experience leading electrical acceptance testing and commissioning activities.
- Proven experience working on data center, mission-critical, or other high-reliability electrical infrastructure projects.
- Strong experience testing and commissioning:
- Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)
- Medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems
- Switchgear and switchboards
- Circuit breakers and transformers
- Protective relays and protective devices
- Strong knowledge of NETA acceptance testing standards and electrical testing procedures.
- Experience reviewing, validating, and approving electrical test data and reports.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and coordinate electrical testing teams.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, equipment specifications, and testing documentation.
- Strong technical troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams on complex, fast-paced, long-duration construction projects.
- Ability to work full-time on-site in Boydton, VA, including overtime or extended hours as required by project needs.
